Joint Aches
December 1st, 2010 at 15:10PATIENT-Every season, with the change in temperature, I experience joint aches. What do you advise?
SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS-
There are different theories as to why joint pains increase in cold weather. It may be due to less circulation of blood to the extremities during winter to conserve the body heat and this may make the joints stiff and painful. Also the drop in pressure in the atmosphere also brings changes in joint pain.
AYURVEDA
External application of herbal oils followed by hotwater shower will be helpful to reduce the joint aches. Try to keep the body warm, use warm clothes, food – warm easily digestible, include soups, steamed sprouts.
NATUROPATHY
Keeping yourself warm and modifying the diet to keep the body warm can reduce the severity. Use only warm water to wash and drink. Include lots of soups, herbal teas, nuts like almonds, walnuts and peanuts, seeds like til, sesame and sunflower seeds etc
Regular warming up exercised and yoga asanas preferably suryanamaskar (depending on the comfort level) will also help the joints.)
HOMOEOPATHY
If the joints pain are more in rainy weather take Dulcamara 200 3 pills 3 times for about a week. You can take Calcarea phosphoricum 6x 4 pils 2 times a day during the cold months. Rhus tox 200 3 pills 4 times will also reduce the pain during the winter months. Natrum sulph on a constitutional basis under the supervision of Homeopathic doctor will make you overcome the tendency.
